February 26, 2010

Hi all, it’s Ozzy!  I have lots to talk about today!  I wanted to start off by thanking all of the wonderful people who volunteer for the APL!

Last year alone our volunteers clocked 55,765 hours here at the APL!  That is the equivalent of 27 full-time employees!  Our volunteers do everything from helping the offices, walking the dogs, cuddling the cats, caring for the rabbits, helping out the adoption staff, working at special events, and even helping out in the clinic!  The office volunteers also let us help with the filing!  Well, it’s more like sleeping on top of the files!  It’s a hard job; someone has to do it!  Our volunteers mean so much to the staff and animals here at the APL!

Pee-ces of artI wanted to share with you some information about an upcoming event in March!  One of our volunteers has a very talented dog,Tucker! A dejected stray just two short years ago, Tucker is now giving back to the canine community. Disabled by a degenerative neurological disease, this tough German Shepherd found his forever home, and in the process also found a way to help those less fortunate animals of Northeast Ohio. He and his foster family will be hosting the inaugural showing of Tucker’s very unique sidewalk creations, “Pee-ces of Art” at Bela Dubby, an art gallery and beer café in Lakewood on Sunday, March 7th from noon to 6pm. The proceeds will benefit both the Cleveland APL and Tucker’s rescue group, the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs. Help Our FriendsIf you want to attend this fun event or check out some of Tucker’s creations you can visit www.pee-ces.com.  Kobe and I have to give Tucker hearty paws up; his art is pretty cool!

If you are interested in becoming an APL volunteer check out all the info here:  http://www.clevelandapl.org/volunteer.htm.

Kobe filingThanks to all of the volunteers and APL supporters who help make the APL an amazing place!

Until next time…

Love and purrs,
Kobe and Ozzy
